Accept, dear and good Miss Henderson, my friendliest acknowledgement of your wishes
for my welfare at the anniversary of my birth, also for the valuable token of your
remembrance, represented in the fine poetical volume of Aytoun.
This splendid literary production was new to me. I received it
only
this day.

Probably Aytoun (1867) or an earlier edition.
My own literary work has not progressed in this year & at this moment I am so weak,
that I am almost prostrated on the sickbed. I trust the year will better end than
it commenced. But I have had so many troubles even departmental that my spirit for
literary work has fled even if I had leisure.
Pray remember me to Mr & Mrs M'Haffie & let me hope that you enjoy all good health
your regardful
Ferd Mueller
