Melbourne bot Garden
17/6/67
It is but right, dear Mr Fitzgibbon, that I should express to the City Council my best thanks for their goodness of providing the nearer access now to the bot. Garden from East Melbourne by the passage near the Engine House. To show in some small way my gratitude I will supply to Mr Hyndman one hundred Chilian s, which I have for the first time now raised & which under Mr Hyndmans care would be large enough next autumn to find permanent places on Municipal Ground. I beg to remind you of your friendly interest to cause such arrangements to be made as will enable me to remove the 3rails fence now in half ruins standing in the swamp at the city bridge. If still a drinking place is needed there after the Yan Yean has become so accessible it could be readily provided opposite the Sandridge road.
Let me remain your very regardful
Ferd. Mueller.
