Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Nomenclature of vines’, a report of a meeting of vinegrowers held in Adelaide on 16 July 1868, South Australian register , 17 July 1868, p. 3. It was introduced by: 'the following letter was read from Rd. Kelly:—'.

June 21, 1867, it was resolved to form a public collection of the vines now in the colony, and to apply to Government to assist in procuring other good varieties not yet introduced. …
Intimation of our intention to form a public collection of vines was sent to Dr. Mueller, of the Botanic Garden in Melbourne, and it was suggested that, if a similar collection were formed In Victoria, the same nomenclature should be used in both colonies; that our collections should be duplicate — each variety being known by a number in the catalogue, and the various names by which it was designated being subjoined. Dr. Mueller, through his assistant, not only gave a favourable reply,
