This letter was sent to the Heads of Departments within the Chief Secretary's Department;
the original is no. 567 and the other recipients are listed under the annotation:
'Similar to proceeding to …'.
By desire of the Honble the Treasurer the Chief Secretary directs me to intimate that
as it is found to be productive of inconvenience both to the Government and to the
persons concerned when any delay takes place in gazetting contracts after they have
been duly entered into it is desirable that all contracts should be gazetted as early
as possible after execution
You will be good enough also to note that this is to be done not only when the funds have been provided but also when as sometimes occurs it is necessary to
make contracts before the votes for the expenditure have passed the Legislature
