12 March 1867
Sir
On the first of December last I had the honor of submitting to you a Requisition (No
46)
for additional Waterpipes &c needed for further ramification of the Yan Yean pipes
through the Botanic Gardens, which you were good enough to approve of at the time,
the expense so incurred (£150.0.0) to be charged to the Vote for Water Supply, available for this
Department for the past year. The work referred to was finished under the superintendence
of the Department for the Melbourne Sewers & Watersupply, who submitted an account
for the amount stated in December last. Not having received however the usual Authority
(the number of which must be quoted on the Voucher transmitted to the Treasury) I
have not been able to pass this Account for payment and beg therefore most respectfully
that you will be pleased to direct such Authority to be transmitted to me.
