I am not quite well, dear Professor, and can thus only very briefly adress you in response to your very friendly last letters. My indisposition must also be the excuse that I did not send any seeds by this mail. I had a most kind letter from your worthy father

and I am so glad that so far the object of our united wishes was accomplished The seeds you so generously supplied have safely arrived I will send you a case with but have no seeds.
I admire your perseverance & success in the Cinchona culture! I have now several thousand plants (the majority C. Condaminea) which I intend this autumn to trust out in our so called "fern tree gullies" Seeds of C. Calisaya & C. micrantha, of which species I have but a limited number are always a great boon
