Sir
Having received no answer to my last letter respecting the invasion of cattle into
my northern reserve from the adjoining municipal ground,
I have the honor to request, that you will kindly inform me of the measures to be
adopted by the City Council to bring these molestations to a cessation. I feel convinced
that so enlightened a council does not wish that difficulties through their disposal
of municipal ground should arise in carrying on my planting operations, but in the
absence of all answer to my applications I am unable to take now the necessary measures
for the preparatory autumnal work
1
See M to E. FitzGibbon, 7 January 1867.
2
M's letter was referred to the Melbourne City Council's Health Committee; for the
decisions reached, see E. FitzGibbon to M, 11 February 1867.
I have the honor to be,
Sir
your most obedient
Ferd. Mueller
The townclerk
