Melbourne bot. Garden,
16/11/66.
Sir
I have the honor to direct your favorable attention to the circumstance, that still
the greater part of the damage caused by the last flood at the botanic Garden remains
for want of means unrepaired, and also I beg leave to inform you, that the fence at
the St. Kilda Road becomes from day to day more needful of repair. There being a special
vote on the additional estimates of 1866 for this and other public works at the botanic
Garden and reserves committed therewith, I would most particularly ask you to be so
kind to determine what portion of this vote may be allotted to the works recommended
and I would beg of you to afford me kindly your support in effecting these works and
repairs before the vote lapses.
