I have the honor to solicit that you will be pleased to cause enquiries to be made of the reason why the sum of £26.3.0 remitted by the Colonial Treasury to the Crown Agent London on the 25th November 1865 to be paid by the latter to Messrs Veitch & Sons can not be rendered available,

Letter marked: 'Crown Agents Copy forwdd. 27.10.66 L.J.T.'. The file includes a letter from the Offices of the Crown Agents for the Colonies to the Colonial Treasurer, G. Verdon, 8 February 1867, stating that Veitch & Sons had been paid the money in question on 16 October 1866. The Under Treasurer, E. Symonds, referred this to M for information on 16 April 1867, who returned it 'with best thanks for the information afforded' on 17 April.
