It is very gratifying to me, dear Miss, that you keep so kindly me in remembrance,
a goodness, which I have but little deserved.
Yesterday I intended to see you, after the crowd dispersed, but you were gone, before
I could approach you. Let me hope that your health is good and that you are living
in agreable surroundings.

Henderson's letter to which M is evidently responding not found.
I accept your friendly gratulation
as a mark of friendly regards, but though I am not insensible to the honors, which
now successively seven sovereigns have bestowed on me, yet I feel that all this tends
but little to provide real happiness.

It would seem that Henderson had written to congratulate M on his latest knighthood,
the Prussian Order of the Crown (see Wilhelm I, King of Prussia, to M, 9 June 1866).
If there is anything in the Garden that you deem acceptable to Mr M’Haffie I will
gladly send it when you proceed to Phillip Island.
I shall not fail to look at the pictures attentively, to which you allude.
With my very best wishes
your
Ferd Mueller
