— I act on it.

In M to R. Barry, 22 August 1866 (in this edition as 66-08-22a), M had suggested that items from Fiji should be sought for inclusion in Melbourne's forthcoming
Intercolonial Exhibition.
Be so good as to send as closely approximate as possible Estimate of the space you
require for yr timber & say where you propose to put it. It is high time to allot
spaces & make provision for the placing of objects so as to prevent hurry & confusion
at the last moment. — When the spots for location are fixed they can be defined with
chalk lines & the Exhibitors can go to work themselves in arranging — I know not how
you propose to arrange yr timber — It wod
present an effective appearance if piled up — Moreover it wod not then occupy a large
area of floor, a most important consideration as I fear we shall find ourselves cramped
