My dear Sir Redmond,
Is it too late to write to the British Consul in the Fiji Islands for contributions
to our Exhibition? I think not, as the communication from Sydney is frequent and rapid,
nor would it be necessary that these articles should be here at the very commencement
of the Exhibition. The Fiji and indeed others of the Pacific Islands are commercially
closely related to Australia, and their products of wool, cotton, cocosoil,
spices, sago, arrow-root &c are important. In the Fiji now large

M sent three plants to Fiji c.1862, describing them as 'mocha coffee' (M to J. McCulloch, 30 September 1865; B65.O8.07; B65.10.02). In B95.08.04, p. 134, he identifies 'Mocha-coffee' as a variety of
Coffea arabica.
