Dear Dr Mueller
I send by Mr Knight specimens of the frond and leaf of a fine free standing species of Ficus which was sent to me years ago from the interior. This year it has borne abundance of fruit on small branches as in the specimen now sent and these emanate exclusively from the stem and from the base of the larger branches and are entirely devoid of leaves. The leaves are of a glossy dark green somewhat heavy in character which suggested the specific name of [viridulata] to me but the manner in which the fruit is borne and the resemblance they have to bunches of grapes has caused me to give it the provisional name of botroyoides
