Frankland-street, Launceston,
4th June, 1866.
To the Worshipful the Mayor,
Chairman Public Gardens Committee.
Sir,— I have the honor to inform you that, per 'Havilah' steamer which arrived yesterday, I received from the Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, through the courtesy of Dr. Mueller, the Government Botanist and Director of the Gardens, two large cases containing over a hundred valuable pines and other plants suitable for the conservatory and shrubberies, which I have handed over to Quarry, the present Curator of the Gardens. Amongst the plants are several of the , or tree of Heaven, which may hereafter prove of value should the silk worm prove successful.
I shall feel obliged if you will have the valuable donation acknowledged to Dr. Mueller.
I am, &c
Samuel Hannaford.]
