I owe you still, dear Dr Hector, my grateful acknowledgement for sending me the fruit.

Requested in M to J. Hector, 13 February 1866.
I can now draw better limits between the 2 genera. I should have written long ago, but the season was a terrific one for drought & with 20000 young trees planted out I had much anxiety on my mind, & much was left otherwise undone.
We have also in Australia, though only on the N. E. coast.
I am establishing a large fern tree gully here, but am still much in want of good sized stems of . They travel, even when 10 or 12' long quite well if carefully taken up with their root & merely thrown on a place not exposed to salt water
I have no more than 3 or 4 plants & not many of the NZ Podocarpi.
Can I send you any flowers for your garden? or can I render you any other services?
your regardfully
