Letter written by M's assistant Ernst Heyne on M's behalf.
5th March 1866
Sir,
Requested by Dr Mueller I have the honor of stating in reply to your favor of 2nd
inst
that he regrets that he has no funds available, so as to enable him to accede to
your request of supplying Duplicates of the Fruit Models which are now being made
up for the International Exhibition,
to the Victorian Horticultural Improvement Society. As however the models of the
various fruits already made are preserved and as some of those made several years
ago are also in a serviceable condition, you would probably be able to make arrangements
with the artist who makes the models for us to obtain a set of Duplicates at less
expense, as you would have to pay for painting & casting alone.
