I have to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 17th instant, and to thank you for the exceedingly valuable advice, and suggestions contained therein.

Letter not found. M had recommended that ground to be reserved for experimental puposes in different regions in Victoria; see C. Hodgkinson to M, 28 February 1866 (in this edition as 66-02-28b), and notes thereto.
In my capacity as a member of the Board of Land and Works, I will not fail to point out the advantages that would, in my opinion, result from making the reserves for which you have applied.
