Office of Lands and Survey
Melbourne, 8th January, 1866.
Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 28th ultimo
asking the permission of the Board of Land and Works to remove a quantity of gravel
from the Government House reserve, for use in the Botanical Gardens reserve.
1
M to C. Hodgkinson, 28 December 1865.
In reply, I have to inform you that the Board of Land and Works have authorized you
to obtain gravel in the reserve named from a site of two (2) acres to be selected in such a position as not to interfere with the
site in that reserve from whence gravel is being obtained for reserves vested in the
Board of Land and Works; — and, subject to the same arrangements as are observed in
procuring gravel from the latter, viz that concurrently with the taking of the gravel the top soil to be again brought to
a smooth surface.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servant,
C. Hodgkindon
Assistant Commissioner of Lands and Survey.
Ferdinand Mueller, Esq.
