Melbourne bot. Garden,
26/9/65.
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to place at my disposal the
following amounts for disbursement during the remainder of the year.
|
Purchase of plants and seeds
|
£10.- .-
|
|
Publication of works
|
£30.- .-
|
|
Incidental expenses
|
£20.- .-
|
I further beg to solicit, that from the sum placed under authority for travelling
expenses the amount of £20.- .- may be cancelled and along with £15 yet available out of the vote for travelling expenses
be placed at my disposal for defraying incidental expenses. The transit expenses during
the year have been so heavy as to leave not a sufficient amount to cover outstanding
incidental accounts & to provide for the requirements of incidental work during the
next three months, especially as an other second hand Garden cart has to be purchased
and for that purpose the exhausted store vote is no longer available.

Approval for M's requests was minuted to this letter. J. Moore to M, 11 October 1865, provided the authority numbers for the transactions.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient servant
Ferd. Mueller
The honorable the Chief Secretary
