Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that the City Council may be pleased to grant the sum of ten pounds Sterling (£10 - -) for repairs of the raised footpath of the Yarra Park, which is in almost an unpassable state. If this sum should be granted, I will undertake the superintendence of the repair and furnish moreover the use of a cart and horse free of expense for the earth work.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient servant,
Ferd. Mueller
The town clerk

M's letter was read at a meeting of the City Council’s Health Committee on 15 August 1865 and referred from there to the City Surveyor (Unit 1, VPRS 4039, PROV). The Council's Public Works Committee subsequently recommended that the amount be voted and handed over as M suggested, and M was informed of this in E. FitzGibbon to M, 30 August 1865.
