The settlers have shown great kindness to the party; and on the station of Mr Officer, and on that of Messrs Robertson and Chrystal, some important aid was rendered to the expedition. The superiority of camels in a grassless country is again already very manifest, when compared to horses. Dr. Murray writes that the latter are suffering from the great scarcity of feed in this season of unusual drought, whereas the former are faring well between the salt plant and varied bushes of the scrub country. The party proves well organised, and all its members show themselves well selected for their arduous task. One young camel, which got lame, has been left behind on Mr Officer's station.
