According to the local newspaper, Moulines at an East Collingwood Borough Council
meeting on 7 June 1865 'stated that he had received from the Curator of the Botanical
Gardens, for the purpose of planting the Borough Reserve, a variety of shrubs and
plants'. Councillor Noone 'objected to spending any more money on the reserve. Cr.
Page said, if this were done, they might, at some future period, sell the reserve
to advantage, and have a handsome Town Hall. Carried.' (East
Collingwood observer, 10 June 1865).

June 21st 1865
Sir,
In accordance with a resolution passed at a Meeting of the Council of this Borough
held on the 7th inst. I do myself the honor to convey to you the thanks of the Council
for the excellent assortment of plants & shrubs you have selected for planting the
Borough Reserve and as the trenching is now entirely completed thus affording space
for an additional hundred plants I am directed to request that you will kindly extend
your liberalty
in granting the required number.

At a meeting of the East Collingwood Borough Council held on 5 July 1865, Moulines
read a letter he had sent to M, thanking him for a further supply of plants (see Council
minutes, VPRS 11090, unit 3, p. 166, VA 439 East Collingwood Borough Council records,
Public Record Office, Victoria). Letter not found.
