I have the honor, by direction of the Trustees of the Melbourne General Cemetery, to acknowledge the receipt at the Cemetery, of a valuable selection of plants, for which I am instructed to return you their best thanks.

See A. Purchas to M, 16 May 1865, applying for plants. At a meeting of the Trustees on 13 June 1865, 'The Gardeners report was read stating ... that 250 valuable pot plants had been received from the Botanic Gardens' (Minute book 1, item 8, Melbourne General Cemetery).
