Sir

I have the honor to inform you, that I intend to proceed tomorrow to Echuca with a view of arranging if possible for the transplantation of some useful plants for experimental purposes to the Murray-River. It is my intention to return on Thursday.

i.e. 18 May 1865. M evidently also attended the ball at Echuca on 17 May 1865 to celebrate the opening of the railway line from Melbourne; see M to W. Wright, 18 May 1865 (in this edition as 65-05-18a).
