I have the honor on behalf of the Trustees of the Royal Park to seek your kind interest, in their obtaining a small share of the vote for improvements of parks in order to effect some repairs to the roads & drives of the said locality.

Votes for such public works were not specified in detail and were treated as a general expenditure for the Department of Land and Works. For 1865 the vote for 'Fencing and improving public parks and gardens' was £1,200 (Victoria Votes and proceedings pf the Legislative Assembly, session 1864-5, vol. 1, p. 234)
