My dear Miss
It is gratifying to me to perceive, that you cherish such kind feelings for poor Leichhardt.
So you will be pleased to hear, that the Ladies (16 from the 8 great denominations)
have been delegated & will meet first on Thursday. The ladies representing your church
are Mrs Dr Bromby & the hon. Mrs Capt Cole.
I mention this not with a view of enacting a subscription from you, for it is on
those living in affluence that Leichhardt has claims above all; but in order that
any little contribution you may be able to obtain in exchange for these humble papers
may through your special coreligionists pass into the Ladies hands.

Eliza Bromby and Thomas Anne Cole represented the Anglican Church on the Ladies' Leichhardt
Search Committee.
It is a movement, which will be followed with deep interest by the whole intellectual
world & which has thought
me already to recognize in many instances the true character of others.

Trusting that your health & spirit are unimpaired, I remain, in deep regards yr
