Melbourne bot. Garden
23/1/65
Sir
In reply to your letter of the 20th,
which reached me this day, I have the honor to inform you, that I shall feel great
pleasure in admitting four of the police-horses into the northern reserve of the botanic
Garden as long as a sufficiency of grass will be available for the purpose.
It may be, that ere long the whole of that reserve will be transformed into an arboretum
for the sake of embellishing the vicinity of the future governments house at an early
time, when probably also the horses used for the service of this establishment will
have to be removed.
