Letter not found. For the text given here, see Argus, 25 January 1885, p. 4. The letter is dated to November 1864 as the latest likely date for it to have been written to reach Melbourne in late January; but see note 2 below. The Comte d'Éprémesnil was the Secretary General of the Société impériale zoologique d'acclimatation in Paris.

The receipt of Curr (1863) was reported at the meeting of the Société of 23 September 1864 (Bulletin de la Société Impériale Zoologique d'Acclimatation ,1864, 2nd series, vol. 1, p. 538).

and saying that, in return, a copy of a work by Mr. Richard (du Cantal), entitled Le Cheval de Service et de Guerre, would be sent out by an early opportunity.]
