I have the honor to inform you, that the letter adressed to you by the Board of Land & Works on the 19th October
has been submitted to the Trustees of the Royal Park, who direct me to inform you,
that at a Meeting of the Trustees held on the 14th October the byefollowing resolution
was passed

That the Honorary Secretary be instructed to adress the Honorable the Chief Secretary,
praying that the sum of five hundred pounds, £500.0.0. be placed upon the Estimates for 1865, to be applied by the Trustees of the Royal
Park in needful repairs, maintenance & improvements to the said Park.

M had written to the Chief Secretary, as instructed, the same day; see M to J. McCulloch,
14 October 1864. No specific provision for this purpose was made when the Parliament approved expenditure for 1865 on 11 July 1865, but the amount voted for
the Commissioner of Crown Lands and Survey included the sum of £2,171 for 'Improving
Public Parks, Gardens, and Parliament Houses’ Reserve, and for Repairs and Renewal
of Fences around Reserves, vested in the Board of Land and Works' (Victoria,
Votes and Proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, Session 1864-5, Vol. 1, p. 408).
