Town Hall
Melbourne Oct 12th 1864
My dear Dr Mueller,
The Health Committee of the City Council will on Monday recommend to the Council that
a contract to be entered into for the removal of the fence in Yarra Park from where
you desire to erect fencing and to reerect it where it will be [servicable] in securing
the outer boundaries of the Park. The report when adopted will be acted upon as quickly
as possible.

For background to the fencing, see E. FitzGibbon, 30 September 1864, and notes thereto.
With respect to Mr Hodgkinson's letter
and the tracing which you were so good as to enclose to me, and which I return enclosed with thanks
it appears to me that a [mistaken] [impression] has been conveyed to his mind to the
effect that the City Council has been contending with you in respect to the boundaries
of the Botanical reserve,
which is not the case, what has been asked on behalf of the Council is that so long
as the reserve be left without that security to the public which is given in respect
to the residue of the park, its limits whatever they are should not be exceeded in
the erection of the enclosing fences.

Dr Sir
