Dear Mr Fitzgibbon
The papers connected with the former zoological ground being only partly in my possession
now, it was not without considerable search that I found the letter referring to the
extension of the northern ground by the authority of the Board of Land & Works.

See also C. Hodgkinson to M, 10 October 1864 (in this edition is 64-10-10a).
I hope you will now be fully satisfied, that I claim the piece of land not wrongly
and will give me all your assistance in effecting my improvements there.
Could the City Council not grant me
one
man for
one week
as labourer at the rate of 6/ pr day for the purpose of striking out one path to
a gate opposite the parade in your ground, to lead pedestrians to the avenue towards
the Garden bridge? I have passed the reserve repeatedly in the dark & got more than
once into bogs before I could strike the precise spot where the faint track to the
bridge commences.
With most friendly regards
Ferd. Mueller
