The text given here is from a report of the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatization Society of South Australia held on 20 October 1864 (Adelaide observer, 22 October 1864, p. 3 S). It was read during a discussion of planting white mulberry seeds received from France, and is introduced by 'On this subject the following extract of a letter from Dr. Mueller, Melbourne, addressed to Mr. G. W. Davis, and dated 3rd October, 1864 was read:—'.
There can be no difficulty whatever to raise young mulberry plants at any season of the year under glass, or even in calico frames, and if the seeds were sown now (October) the seedlings would be fit for planting out by the time the hot weather has passed.
