Dear Mr Fitzgibbon,

I intended to have waited on you to day but missed you.

The execution of the contract for renewal of the fences on the northern ground of the botanic Garden is absolutely at a standing still in consequence of my not yet having received permission to use yours.

M to R . Eades, 29 August 1864, implicitly but not explicitly requested the use of the material from the existing three-rail fence to remake another fence. The Health Committee meeting of 20 September recommended that the request be granted. E. FitzGibbon to M, 12 October 1864 (in this edition as 64-10-12a) , reported that the Health Committee would recommend that a contract be let for the removal of the fence, and its re-erection to secure the boundaries of the Yarra Park , where the nort h er n ground of the Botanic Garden was established.

As the season is so fast advancing I should be extremely glad to effect the improvement next week. Could you kindly give me a decisive answer to morrow?
