Office of Lands & Survey,
Melbourne, 23rd Sept, 1864
Sir,
I have the honor to inform you that at a Meeting of the Board of Land and Works on
the 20th instant, a resolution was arrived at by the Board to the effect that the
Trustees of the Royal Park should be informed that it is the intention of the Board
of Land and Works to remove from the Royal Park the iron hurdles at present near the
lodge gate of that Park, those hurdles being now useless for the protection of plantation
enclosures from Cattle which are now being depastured in the outer part of the Park.
The Board purpose using the hurdles in question in the Fitzroy and Flagstaff Gardens
where they will be exceedingly useful in protecting plants from injury by the numerous
troops of children who constantly frequent those reserves.
I have therefore to request that you will be good enough to make known to the Trustees
of the Royal Park the decision herein announced.
