My dear Professor.
It affords me much pleasure to send you by this mail the copies of the fragmenta,
still wanting in your set. Should you not have all the plates, pray let me know, so
that I may complete them. I have to express my grateful acknowledgement of your goodness
of sending me the extra copies of the article on the N W Australia plants,
by the distribution of which I can encourage others to collect. I have sent a copy
to Mr Brown
& one to Mr Walcott.

The attentive sending of the papers containing the records of your botanical meetings
call for my special thanks. I wished I had a little leisure, so that I could from
time to time contribute something; but at all events I will not neglect to send periodically
collections. I have the better part of an essay on the previously almost botanically
unexplored Chatham-Islands written
& will send it when completed. After patient research on extensive material I have
been induced to make large reductions in some of the species of New Zealand.

Dr Madden I see often at our Acclimation Council. He is an admirable man & has a large
practice. I only regret that he upholds Homoeopathy He is Physician to the Governor.
With cordial regards
dear Professor
