Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated the 31st ultimo,
bringing under notice the case of Edward Brandon, and in reply, I beg to inform you
that the Board of Land and Works having taken into consideration the very serious
loss sustained by Mr Brandon in consequence of the late flood have decided on remitting
the license fee in arrear for the quarter ending the 31st December, 1863, for the
ferry worked by him at Richmond, and will allow him to continue to work the ferry
at the reduced rate of (£20) Twenty Pounds per annum.

There will be no objection to the temporary occupation by Mr Brandon of the quarry
near the ferry —
