I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of three fascicles of Capt. Beddome's
ferns of Southern India,
which are deposited amongst the Governments works of this Office,
and for the transmission of which I beg to tender my best thanks. These fascicles
being transmitted to the Victorian Government on the order of Sir Will. Denison, I
beg to submit a requisition for a reciprocate to the Madras Government.

At this period the library comprised M's personal collection as well as items such
as this presented or purchased from Government funds. He offered his personal library to the Government in M to J. McCulloch, 15 August 1864, reporting that it had been valued at £1,100, and sold it for £600 in 1865; see M to J. McCulloch, 8 January 1865 and notes thereto, and M to J. McCulloch, 21 January 1865. Requisition not found, works requested not identified. Moore minuted approval for M's request and forwarded it to the Government Printer.
M noted the action on 23 November 'with best thanks'.
