Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de la Société impériale zoologique d'acclimatation, vol. 10 (1863), p. 637. The report of M's letter to Ramel immediately follows the
full text of a letter from Thomas Black, dated 25 August 1863, in which he announced
that, through M's contact in London (the secretary of the Zoological Society of London,
P. L. Sclater), the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria had sent a lizard, six passerine
birds and a pair of crested pigeons for the French society. M's letter is dated to
August 1863 based on the date of Black's letter and is the latest likely date for
it to have been written to be reported at the meeting of the Society held on 2 October
1863.
[Since the receipt of this dispatch,
Mr P. Ramel has sent us a letter in which Dr Mueller informs him that he added, in
his own name, to the animals designated by Mr Black, two
Colluricincla harmonica
,
also intended for our Society.]
