Letter not found. The text given here is from the report of the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria held on 15 September 1863 (Argus, 17 September 1863, p. 6). Sclater's letter is dated to July 1863 as the latest likely date it could have been sent, to reach M in time for him to report its contents to this meeting.
