My dear Professor.
Allow me to enclose a specimen of an apparently new genus of an order of plants, which
you have so masterly elucidated. If you consider the material sufficient for the purpose,
pray name & describe the plant for the annales des sciences naturelles. I forwarded
recently notes on a new
West Australian
to M. Alph. de Candolle,
and these will probably also be forwarded to you for publication.

By the Lincolnshire I have sent you an other case for the Museum under Mr Pamplins
mediation. The dried plants are not so valuable as could be wished, but
this winter
, when engaged more regularly on the herbarium, I will not fail to lay aside for you
all I deem worthy of your acceptance. The case contains also some zool. Specimina,
weapons of the Gipps Land Aborigines, fossils from the Grampians &c for the Museum
& a parcel dry plants for Count Jaubert & for M Cosson. The Algae are from Phillip
Island & only crudely dried.
Ever with sincere regards, dear & estimated Sir,
your very humble
Ferd Mueller.
I shall probably send you the 3. vol of the Fragmenta by this mail.
A Compatriot of yours Mr Hemuelle who proceeds by the "Anglesey"
to London will be the bearer of some things intended for you. Pray pay my respects
to Prof Chevreul, Prof Brogniart
& Prof Dumeril.
2
Vol. 3 of the Fragmenta had been 'recently issued' by mid-April; see M to J. O'Shanassy,
15 April 1863 (in this edition as 63-04-15a).
3
Anglesey cleared out of Melbourne on 9 June 1862; nobody named Hemuelle was listed among the
passengers (VPRS 948 Outwards passenger lists, Public Record Office, Victoria).
