My dear Doctor
It was mentioned at the Council meeting yesterday that it would be very advisable
to take some measures towards cultivating the yam or sweet potatoe on a large scale,
and it was also suggested that some steps should be taken towards introducing the
ginger tree it being a tree likely to thrive in this climate. Will you kindly give
us the benefit of your advice upon these matters.
The Council having decided upon sending the Perch now at the gardens up to Woodend
and 10 of the [Tench] to the Yan Yean
I should be glad if you would inform the Secretary when it will suit your convenience
to catch these in order that he may make the necessary arrangements.
