Dear Professor.
By this mail I have forwarded to you the manuscript of the record on the plants of F Gregorys North West Australian Expedition,

B63.13.03.
also the last 5 No of my fragmenta, in which some of these plants are described. I have not sent the plates, as they would be crushed by being sent by bookpost, but they can & will be sent at a later date, as I have to send you soon seeds & dried plants by sailing vessel & the continuations of my works.
I beg to enclose a few seeds fresh collected of the remarkable from the Burdekin. It is a noble & most handsome tree & thus well worthy of bearing the name of the Veteran Savant of your city, who, I believe, is not aware of my having paid him this slight token of respect some years since.

C. Brewsteri was described in B59.04.04, p. 110.
The species is very singular for the spherical nodes, which are born

by the lower filaments.
The enclosed paragraph is a copy of a letter which I received from your energetic and ingenious pupil Dr Kirk.

Probably the letter published in the Argus, 21 November 1862, p. 7, col. 3. See J. Kirk to M, 4 May 1862.
Ever most regardfully
