MS black-edged.
Dear Dr Hooker
Just when finishing my correspondence for Kew, I received the books out of the library
of your reverend father in law.
It is a most excellent acquisition, valued higher since it was once Prof Henslows
possession.
All the books are so well kept. I have directed Mr Pamplin not to allow you to be
under expense for the additional bindings &c. There is also I believe a Saldo due
to you, which I will liquidate when remitting for the 10 copies of the genera.

See M to J. Hooker, 24 January 1862 (in this edition as 62-01-24c). The Library at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne contains several works once
owned by Henslow, for example, Vaillant (1772).
Ever your attached
Ferd Mueller
