At a meeting of the Royal Park Trustees held on 11 April 1862, it was resolved: 'that,
a letter be written by Dr Mueller to the Secretary of the Acclimat. Society, requesting
of being favored with the views of the council of the Acclim. Society in reference
to the rules and regulations of the Park, in order that the Trustees may be guided
thereby in the adoption of rules and regulations to be submitted to the Board of Land
and Works; that further the Council of the Acclim. Society be requested to be furnished
with a plan of the Park showing the present state of improvements, and that further
a return be proposed of the animals under the care of the Acclim. Society, such return
to be renewed hereafter quarterly.' (A345, p. 118).

I have the honor of transmitting to you a copy of the code of regulations adopted
by the Trustees of the Royal Park on the basis of the rules formed by the Council
of the Acclimation Society and beg to request, that you will be good enough to place
them before the Council.

Rules
at the entrance gates of the Park.
These gates will be open to the public from sunrise to sunset.
No Carts, Drays or vehicles bearing a name or number will be permitted to enter the
Park, except by special order.
Breaking in or training horses within the Park is strictly prohibited and no person
will be permitted to ride or drive on the footpaths or grassland, or injure the fences,
plantations, or any other property of the Trustees, or to shoot, fish or kindle fire
within the grounds.

The garden is open to the public free of charge from noon to sunset daily.

No dog is to be brought into the garden under any circumstances, any such being found
therein will be destroyed and the owner held responsible for any damage the animal may have occasioned.
Visitors are specially requested to abstain from annoying or disturbing in any way
whatever the quadrupeds, birds or any other animals belonging to the gardens, also
from interrupting the workmen by conversation or otherwise.
Persons refusing to comply with any of the foregoing rules will be dealt with according
to law.
The Superintendent of the Park is empowered by the Trustees to enforce the due observance
of the foregoing rules.
New rule to be inserted after the word "grounds" in the code of rules affixed to the
entrance gates.
The use of firearms or any other destructive weapons within the precincts of the park
is strictly prohibited.
