Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de la Société Impériale Zoologique d'Acclimatation , vol. 9 (1862), p. 800. M’s letter is dated to July as the latest likely date that it could have been sent to have arrived in London by early September, in time for Perry's letter to be reported at the Society's meeting of 12 September.
