Melbourne botanic Garden,
20. June 62
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, dated 18 June,
1
C. Duffy to M, 18 June 1862 (in this edition as 62-06-18b).
and beg in reply to inform you, that of the plants desired by Mr Sinclair for Fitzroy Gardens only those of the are available of sufficient size for being planted out this season. Of some of the other kinds enumerated, including the Deodars and the s, the plants will have gained next season sufficient strength for being planted out.
Of Stone pines I have a sufficient supply of plants available fit for being moved to their final place of destination this season and will gladly place such number as may be needed of this species for Fitzroy Gardens at the Superintendents disposal, anticipating that sufficient protection exists for the plants on the ground, as young specimens are so easily abstracted and by the incautious approach of pedestrians or by the play of children destroyed
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient and humble servant
Ferd. Mueller.
Director of the botanic Garden
The honorable C. G. Duffy Esq. MLA
