6. June 1862
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the reciept of your letter, dated 6. June,
and beg in reply to assure you, that I shall feel particular pleasure in aiding your
Municipality, whenever I can, aid their laudable object of establishing plantations
on the public grounds at Hawthorn. Should the Council still require additional plants
this season, I will such, as remain available, gladly place at your disposal.

Letter not found; but see
South Bourke standard
, 6 June 1862, p. 3, where, in an account of the meeting of the Hawthorn Municipal
Council held on 2 June 1862, it was reported that under agenda item ‘Ornamental reserve’,
'
Councillor Lansly said he had obtained a large quantity of shrubs from Dr. Mueller
for the reserve; and he would propose that the thanks of the Council be tendered to
Dr. Mueller for the gift. Councillor Conran seconded the motion, which was put and
carried.'
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your very obedient servant,
Ferd Mueller.
The townclerk of Hawthorn.
