At the meeting of Trustees held 1 August 1862, Simmonds 'reported that Dr Mueller had kindly presented 500 Plants of various kinds, also a large packet of Seeds. also that Messrs Smith & Adamson of Melbourne had presented Plants'. The Trustees resolved to thank M and Smith & Adamson for their 'liberality' (p. 81a). There is a copy of a letter Simmonds sent to Smith & Adamson on 12 August annotated: 'a similar letter to the above was also written to Dr Mueller'. For M's reply, see M to S. Simmonds, 16 August 1862 (in this edition as 62-08-16c).
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servant
