Sir,
Referring to your letters of the 27th March and 12th ultimo,
respectively, applying for authority to expend an additional sum of money for the
purpose of completing the plantation of elms in the Reserve between the city bridge
and the Botanic Gardens, I have the honor to inform you that, in consequence of the
many claims on the vote for the current year for fencing and improving Public Parks
and Gardens, the Board of Land and Works decline to authorize the appropriation of
a larger sum than (£10) Ten Pounds, in addition to that already granted, for the purpose
of trenching and planting the ground specified.

The Board approve of your proposal to plant Pines on the slopes of the reserve in
question.
