Sir.
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication dated the 11th Inst
and to inform you that the same was laid before the Council of the Acclimatisation
Society at the meeting of yesterday and at the suggestion of Mr Sumner and in consequence
of the paucity of attendance consulation of it was deferred until the meeting to be
held on the 23rd Inst.

At a meeting of the Council of the Acclimatization Society of Victoria held on 16
April 1862, attended by six members, 'A letter from Dr Mueller on behalf of the Trustees
of the Park was referred to the next meeting'. At the Council meeting on 29 April
1862, which M attended, his letter was taken into consideration and a motion was moved
and carried: 'That the returns requested by the Trustees of the Royal Park be furnished
to them, and Messrs Archer, [R. H.] Bland Cambell, Embling Purchas and Smith be appointed
a sub committee to offer suggestions to the Trustees for the regulation of the Royal
Park' (Unit 1, pp. 165, 170, VPRS 2223/P, Public Record Office, Victoria).
